Apologies if someone has already started this, I didn't find a thread that had been started about t. Anywho, have you all seen that ford parts .com (hope I'm allowed to say that) had three different spark plug part numbers and descriptions? Never noticed it. Was wondering if there is a specific type of spark plug (for fuel, example unleaded 87) for the 4.6? I'm fairly mechanically inclined as I do all my own work but this is my first Ford vehicle. (GM guy here, don't "kick me to da curb" just yet) What do you gentlemen think?

Looking at the listing you have a couple of things most alternates are for the Natural Gas version of the motor so anything mentioning NGV you can drop if you don't have that. The other three are Nickle, Double Platinum and AWSF-32P (which is the closest to standard). These all pretty much have the same benefits and drawbacks you are used to with GM plugs. I have been running the Platinum in my Vic but I need a bit colder plug as it can ping at higher RPM. If you have not done much to the motor I would recommend the platinum on standard 86-87 octane gas. The will have better spark and should not detonate on you the nickle will run hotter and could cause issues. Standard plugs are great for 84. |
