I have a 66 galaxie 500xl convert, thinking about updating it from a 289, to a 302 ford racing crate engine. How do you think this would effect its value?

Rodger,

It will really depend on the current state/value of the Galaxie. On vehicles of that vintage, you'll increase the value by maintaining its factory condition. However, a 289 Galaxie isn't particularly rare, so going to a 302 crate engine would be a nice performance benefit. To the casual owner who just wants a Galaxie, it won't matter to them. To a collector, this will make them look elsewhere if they are seeking something in original condition.

I would recommend joining the Galaxie Club of America for more information from other Galaxie owners. http://www.galaxieclub.com
