I'm happy to announce that we've launched a new site design as of 7/4/06!

Here's what has changed:

www.supermotors.net
You can now access the site via http://www.supermotors.net. supermotors.org will automatically forward to the new URL -- don't worry, you won't have to change your links, it's all handled automatically for you.

New site design/framework/navigation
We've given the site a facelift after the previous design had been in production since September 2004.

New global navigation contains My Garage, Settings, Profile, and other key links and is carried across all SuperMotors clubs and hosted clubs
We've listened to user comments and suggestions regarding the ease-of-use of the site. As a result, we've eliminated a few layers of navigation when managing registry entries, photo albums, etc. You will note that all account information is just a click away by visiting the "My Garage" link at the top of the screen (to manage your registry entries and media albums) or by visiting the "Settings" link at the top of the screen (to manage your profile, contact information, etc.).

Improved registry and media file urls to be shorter, easier to type, and better for search engine optimization (old URLs automatically forward to new urls)
We've greatly improved registry entries urls to make them more human-friendly as well as search engine friendly. For example, an old registry entry URL was:

http://www.supermotors.org/vehicles/registry/detail.php?id=10

This is now:

http://www.supermotors.net/10

Several other links have also been streamlined. Any old links will automatically forward to the new-style links.

Added "Rearview mirror" feature which tracks referring links to registry entries and media files
A new featured is the rearview mirror -- viewed on registry and photo pages. When people click on links to your registry entries or photos from other sites, the rearview mirror will automatically show you where people have been coming from to visit your pages.

All e-mail accounts need to be re-setup due to the crash. We've asked that members with e-mail accounts contact us to have them reinstated. I've reinstated yours based on your account settings.

Thanks.

I'm missing club registrations.

My club had the forums direct to the club website before and now I can't find anywhere to turn off the forums on this new site. I do not want our club to have forums here since we have an established website. Just too much to keep up with. Where can I change the options for my club?

Empty chairs at empty tables, the room silent, forlorn.

I'm missing 2 vehicles and over 600 photos. No chance of getting any of that back? This has ruined links all over the place. Before anyone pipes in I am a subscriber so I'm not whining and not supporting.

Also missing club registrations.

Hi Audra,

You are more than welcome to vent -- it is perfectly OK. Unfortunately, we tried everything we could to recover the data on the bad drives, but it was just not possible. We are starting backup procedures that go to remote servers now to prevent this kind of catostrophic failure in the future.

The club registrations will simply need to be submitted again. Your members can validate their club memberships at this link on their SuperMotors account: http://www.supermotors.net/mygarage/clubs.php

Sorry.

I decided I was done whining, you're just too quick answering. I edited above with another issue. I think you'll have some help for this one. Just cant find options and heck couldnt find where to link to the club had to kinda hunt around.

I've used my e-mail address and 4600cc without the @part to login, says login failed. Fails from outlook too.

This is a major major inconvinience for me, as I am relying on this e-mail address for everything. Now I can't login, and when I e-mail to 4600cc@superford.org from another account it comes back as undeliverable. How hard it is to invest in RAID and play this game safely. Please get my e-mail working.

Your account has superford.net as the e-mail address, not superford.org, for some reason. So we setup your e-mail address incorrectly. Your 4600cc@superford.org e-mail address will now work (same password as your SuperMotors login). Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

RAID is an easy investment. When two drives in our RAID failed, it caused problems we had not budgeted nor planned for. Now we are planning more redundancy at an increased cost to prevent this type of hardware failure from causing data loss in the future.

Audra,

Currently, we do not offer the ability to turn off particular club features. What you can do is post a message in the active forum topic for your club on SuperMotors and just direct people to your current club forums. This is what we recommend for clubs that just use us for registry services.

In the future, we will be adding more administrative control over which features can be viewed on your club (on SuperMotors). The club administration is in need of a desperate overhaul to add the features club admins/owners have been requesting for quite some time. Unfortunately, I do not have an ETA as to when this will be ready, though.
