My 2002 Crn Vic. starts up fine, but won't stay running unless you keep your foot on the gas pedal and rev it up, until it begins to idle on it's own.....sometimes taking up to 30 minutes. Once it begins to idle on it's own though, it runs fine. But if you turn it off, you have to go through this process all over again. It also has quit on me while driving (when I am accelerating suddenly, such as when merging onto a highway ramp.) It has thrown codes for EGR Valve, EGR Sensor, & Misfires. I have replaced the EGR Sensor, my mechanic said it didn't need EGR Valve. Also, just replaced # 5 Ignition Coil. BUT, when mechanic took it for test drive after repair, he said it quit on them while driving, and that it MAY be the Idle Air Control. HELP! What is the real problem with this car...I can't keep sinking money into repairs that are not solving the problem!!

Yes, you could get several ECM codes....a few 'false positive's'....!!!

If you can not chase them down w/a multi-meter, mechanic or the false positives....posibbly go to the bone yard and grab the 'offending sensors' (codes)...this will greatly reduce your initial replacement parts cost....!!!

I would throw in another sensor/part that could be involved....the TPS (throttle position sensor) on the throttle body. I have had the TPS give many challenging throttle issue to have it resolve many of my 'false positive' codes....

BTW...the TPS generally has two normal looking Phillips head screws holding it to the throttle body.
They will NOT come out easily...generally stripping the heads......Why you may ask....because FORD decided to use 'loctite' on them....go figure....!!!

I bought the complete throttle body w/TPS @ the bone yard for less than $20....I could clean the used throttle body of carbon deposits and get a 'used replacement TPS' much quicker & easier than fighting the 'loctite' issues...

Hope some of this helps...
