yes it does accelerate but slowly, say if you are going down the road around 30 mph and go to pass another vehice, it does not respond in mph like normal but the rpms shoot up like normal. |

OK... engine powers up, and accelerates (albeit way too slow or "abnormally"), yet the engine RPMs are normal...
My first guess, Tranny. How many miles you pushing ?
Does your tranny shift properly (normally). Any lag in shifting (i.e long periods of engine RPM increases, while the shifting of the gears is a bit delayed or takes a second or three longer than "normal".

pushing 90000
it is hard for me to tell if it is shifting properly due to the slugishness |

Understand... likewise, its hard for me to diagnose w/ out a test drive.
Seems to me, that your engine is performing fine. The RPMs increase w/ your accelerator push. You can confirm your engine is fine thru the use of an over the counter engine code device sold at the major auto parts stores.
It appears the power being transferred from the engine thru the torque converter / tranny input shaft to the drive shaft / differential... is the first place I would look.
Is your EX a 6.0L PSD or you running gas ? Does it have a history of towing heavy loads ? |

OK...
When is the last time you had a tranny tune? fluid, gaskets, filter ?
I'd get a diesel engine code reader... see what comes up. In addition, if its never happened since you had your Ex... I'd do a tranny tune and explain to your mechanic the issues you are experiencing.
The 6.0L PSD is a rock solid motor, it just came from the factory w/ some "ism's" that require attention.
Recommended Upgrades:
-Headstuds for towing
-Larger intake
-Larger intercooler
-Engine oil cooler
-Larger (more efficient) exhaust
(** its all about a diesel being able to breathing more efficiently **)
-EGR delete
-Tune Chip
But these can cost you some $$... But I have just a few remaining upgrades for my EX... which I bought used w/ 150K miles... |
