Hello,
I wanted to ask fellow members about a
1989 Grand Marquis that is for sale near
Me. The seller claims it had been stored
For several years by the original owners.
It has 33,465 original miles according to
The seller. I saw some photos and it looks
Very good. They say it has been driven on the
Local roads and highway recently.
I do not know how many years exactly it had
Been off the road. I do assume it was not
Driven in the years it was stored.
I do not know if the lines were flushed and gas
Tank was drained along with other fluids
Before being stored.
I am going to look at the car this weekend.
What should I look for? What problems
Might their be after being stored for several
Years? How much is this car worth if it
Indeed has 33,456 original miles and turns
Out to be in nm cosmetic condition? How
Much would I have to put into the car? |

Rubber parts do rot, tires, vacuum lines etc. Steel lines, body parts etc. will rust. Heater cores are the first to start leaking. Check the shocks by bouncing the car. I hope this gets you started. |

I saw the car today. It does appear that it does have the 33,456 miles stated by the seller. It was driven to the parking lot where I looked at it. It was stored for 5 years and driven periodically during that time.
The pedals had very little wear neither did the seats.
The engine bay looked clean and free of leaks from what I could see. The belts and hoses look good.
I looked underneath and while it was not on a lift, I did not see any leaks or rust or rot along the length of the exhaust.The seller claimed he had crawled under and not seen any rust or rot.
The wheels wells were clean and free or rust.
I did not check the dipstick for the transmission or oil.
What is the price a 23 year old car in what appears to be in NM cosmetic with low miles and very good mechanical condition go for?
How much would one expect to put into the car, as there would have to be some things that will need
replacing? Like some rubber seals.
I wanted to use the car to go to work with, which is 300 miles a week |
