Ok..here's what I got and want to do...I have a 98 P-71, runs good but the valve seals are going bad and the valves are starting to rattle. I can fix it BUT, I am wanting to do a motor swap and take my current motor and rebuild it.
Here's the kicker, If I get the Boss 5.0 modular that says that it will work with the 2v heads. etc., Will that engine work with the factory computer. I have a SCT tuner that can program it so will that work. Last, does anyone know if the motor mounts are going to be modified.
I can turn some wrenches and fab sh*t up but the computers and programs flip me out.

I believe (from what I have read in the magazines) that since the introduction of the modular engines Ford has used the same patterns on the engine blocks. Any mod engine should fit with no changes to the mounts. So you could use the 5.0 modular engine with no problems.

Now I am assuming you ARE talking about the Boss 5.0 modular engine used in the newest Mustangs. As far as the PCM goes, you will need a computer for this engine. The PCM from the 1998 will not work. And you will probably have to download a tune for these engines.

If you are referring to the stroked 4.6L that is now 5.0, then yes, you can use the OEM computer and reflash it with the SCT handheld.

OK...4.6 Stroked with the 3.750 crank = 5.0 displacement, will work woth just a flashed pc. That's cool but,,do you or anyone else have any idea on what pcu I would need for the BOSS 5.0 modular "like the new Boss Stang" That engine with just the 2 valve heads would be mean..
I posted soin another thread that I have some friends that has Mustang GT's, a Camaro, and some with some little hatch back civics. (them little bastards are quick and I atleast want to contend with them..
