Welcome to the PoP Forum. Introductions are optional.
BACKGROUND
I'm Andy. I'm not a car expert or a mechanic, nor do I race. I decided to start this club 'cause motor companies don't make or plan to make cars like the Probe/MX-6/MX-3 anymore. Therefore they are unique which makes them instant classics. And what does that make me? An enthusiast. Are you?
CLUB GOALS
So these cars are instant classics. What now? KEEP THEM ON THE ROAD! If you pass any decent sized junkyards, odds are you'll see one of these cars in it. This happens mainly because people "can't afford" to take care of them. Why should that be? That ain't right... This place will explore the cheapest "do it yourself" ways and mechanics to visit so that everyone can keep their car running top notch!
What about racing? Not really an issue at this point. If you are obsessed with shaving tenths of a second off your 1/4 mile times, then there are other forums you can brag about yourself in. This club will be centered more around basic performance/tuning and results (dyno, etc), aesthetics, electronics, restorations, custom work, and other miscellaneous aftermarket upgrades. In other words, if you'd just like to have a nice looking car that can get you where you wanna go quickly and turn heads, this place is for you!
So what's a summary of goals explained so far?
1. To see how many people have a passion for their Mazda powered cars around this area
2. To assemble a local directory of places to go, people to see, so anyone around here can have a good looking and smooth running vehicle.
3. To eventually get a decent number of people with KLZE's (the highest HP Mazda KL motor) in their cars, and compare methods and results for passing PA state emissions testing with them.
WHO CAN BE IN THIS CLUB?
Logically, you must be an owner of any of:
- 1989-1997 Ford Probe (all models)
- 1988-1997 Mazda MX-6 (all models)
- 1992-1996 Mazda MX-3 (all models)
- 1991+ Ford Escort or Mazda Protege with a Mazda Kx motor swapped into it (using MX-3 GS parts)
As far as the four-door models go (1993-2000 Mazda 626 and Millenia), owners of these will also be allowed to register, but if you do, please try to limit your discussion to performance issues only.
