Driven on 1 tank for a few years, then abandoned when the 2nd tank gave out. Given to another owner who planned to fix it, but abandoned it in the woods for a few years. Given to a 3rd owner who planned to fix it, but abandoned it in the woods for a few years. Sold to me. I drove it home before stripping it down for thorough repairs. Then Frank bought it while his '75 Bronco was getting some P&B repairs. Later, it became his sons' first vehicle.
Now, it's mine again, with USB power/voltmeter on the dash, 2KW inverter, 5 new 235/75R15 Cooper AT3 tires with internal TPMS, reman head, low-profile across-the-bed tool box, K&N drop-in, most lights LED, DOT-legal projector 1-piece headlight housings, Kenwood KDC-X998, EasyLift tailgate assist, & more. |

TPMS23.jpg 253 hits | 113.94 KB | Posted: 2/26/24 Like my other trucks, I added TPMS to this one. It has already been useful & worthwhile several times.
Others.jpg 184 hits | 72.63 KB | Posted: 2/4/24 Don't forget to remove any OTHER bolts holding the bed down, before attempting to lift it off. But to make this swap, the bed barely needs to be lifted - just one side at a time, and just a half inch is enough.
Grip Splines.jpg 181 hits | 76.12 KB | Posted: 1/30/24 This bolt spun, so I welded a temporary grip to the head. After removal, I removed the grip, and welded splines under the head so it couldn't spin again. But it's a lot of work, and requires even more damage to the bed, so it's not a good solution. I...
BedLift96.jpg 191 hits | 96.59 KB | Posted: 1/30/24 I sometimes use this portable gantry (made from scrap metal: a 5" Aluminum I-beam, some 1.5" straight square tubes, and some 2" square tube T's, with common 5/8" hitch pins to adjust the height) with a [url=https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ID981Z6]12V AT...
Originals.jpg 172 hits | 80.65 KB | Posted: 1/30/24 Original pre-'98 F-series bed bolts are carriage-type, with long square or oval bosses under the heads. Even if they don't spin during removal, they often break due to rust. New replacements are not available (as of the upload date), but newer-style ...
20221017_181012.jpg 206 hits | 146.78 KB | Posted: 1/30/24 After thoroughly washing the frame (and whatever repairs prompted removing the bed are completed & checked), install the later-style U-nuts (chased with anti-seize) on the frame so the bed is easier to remove next time. MidBedHole.jpg 154 hits | 49.52 KB | Posted: 1/30/24 The hole over the axle needs to be enlarged just this much for the later bolts to fit. IF THE IMAGE IS TOO SMALL, click it.
BedBolts95new.jpg 163 hits | 50.97 KB | Posted: 1/30/24 Undercoating the exposed threads will protect them from rust, without interfering with removal. IF THE IMAGE IS TOO SMALL, click it.
The front Left bolt is hardest to see because of the front tank (if equipped).
76Solder.JPG 14148 hits | 74.81 KB | Posted: 4/17/11 To temporarily (or indefinitely) run any '90-96 dual-tank truck on 1 tank, it's necessary to plug both unused tank lines & the vapor line.
I used the old rear tank plate as a blockoff for the fuel lines because it seals to the fuel lines without dam...
56WStrimLeaves.JPG 5874 hits | 96.21 KB | Posted: 4/9/11 The windshield side & lower trim were packed with leaves. While it was off, I removed the wiper valance & emptied the cowl. It was packed, except where the squirrel living in the squirrel cage had cleaned some of them out.

74Conn.JPG 5686 hits | 85.41 KB | Posted: 4/17/11 Since I got the pigtail with the '93 tank, and I saved the original '95 pump plate, it was easy to make this adapter harness. Now, either style of pump can be used.
