OK, nobody out there that can give me some help? I thought that there would be at least one expert out there!!
Hi all, I recently found you all and boy can I use your help. here is what I want to do and I want to know if it is a drop in type of deal or is it too difficult for me to pull off.
1 - I want to replace my 200 I6 with a crate 302 ( any advice on good cheap and reliable crate manufacturers would be great)
2 - Currently have 3 on the tree manual, want to know if it is possible to put a t-5 in and still use a tree shifter or how hard it is to install a floor shifter
3 - the truck came with nissan buckets, want to put in stock buckets, any one know where I can get some?
4 - body doesn't have any molding, is there a place where they sell NOS items for this in San Diego CA?
5 - the dude before me modified the tire space behind the seat by closing it off from the cabin. He then removed the panel from the back of the truck and put a hinged piece of metal on it for an outside storage area. This really sucks!!! IS this piece easy to replace or am I SOL?
6 - I've seen after market I.F.S kits, disk brake conversion kits, rack and pinion, and air or adjustable suspension kits for 66 and 67 mustangs and other classics, will these work with a 67 ranchero or are there some made for this vehicle?
7 - I sent my VIN to Ford a while back and they sent me a great letter showing me everything about my vehicle. One thing they mentioned was I have a 3.00 non-locking rear axle ratio. How does this relate to 9 inch or 8.? inch, will it work with a 302, should I upgrade if so to what, etc.........
8 - My letter also stated my vehicle was actually made on 9/13/1966. My rear tail lights are actually from 1966. Is it possible it actually came with these lights or did someone put these on?
9 - Dearborn classics looks like an excellent place to get some parts for classic vehicles, but they don't seem to have much listed for 67 Ranchero's, what other year can you substitute (if any) and do they have a good reputation?
Thanks in advance for any help, sorry so long, but figured its probably easier to get all my questions over all at once. |

ricardo,
welcome to the 67.
not much in the way of specific ranchero parts mfrs.
dearborn, auto krafters, mac's, dennis carpenter to name a few.
start there.
nobody makes side moldings for fairlanes. ebay/craigslist for those.
this site is slow with tech forum. try ranchero.us.
all rancheros, all the time.
also look into fairlane owner site.
a lot of info, parts available from other fairlane owners.
i did know of a ford repo place in escondido some time ago.
they mostly specialized in mustang but had some fairlane parts.
C & W ?
there was also a guy in vista who bought/sold ford cars and parts.
he usually listed in hemmings motor news.
went by "fordlord" in his email, alex somebody.
i cant remember last name.
he has a revolving supply of cars.
look for 66/67 falcon buckets too if you want orig bucket seat look without the high fairlane price tag.
thats what i did. they drop right in.
i have an extra 66 bucket if you're interested. drop me an email.
its complete, but will need reupholstery.
you're SOL with the truck tire/bed area. nobody makes bed floor boards, rear area sheetmetal panels.
if your VIN says 9-66, you have an early 67 model. those tail lites were added later.
as you can see, they're interchangeable. nobody makes bezels, just the lenses. though the backup lite is now plastic, not glass as orig.
look into ford racing or rousch or world crate engines.
plenty of HP levels to choose from.
your tranny will also need to be replaced. floor shift is possible with the hump piece.
look into fairlane sites, maybe crites or dearborn for the sheetmetal piece.
not sure about the T5 app. though.
i'd lose the column shift personally if you go through all the trouble.
the 8" rear should be able to handle the crate engine. dont quote me of this.
your front spindles may be rated for the six however.
consider brake upgrade to power discs in front.
IFS kits for front is possible, again look into fairlane owners forums.
some have done it.
a guy kevin tetz from paintucation.com has done a 67 with rack and pinion setup.
he's a wealth of info and a good guy.
more questions, send me an email.
this should give you something to work with.
www.geocities.com/ranchero_67
is my site.
not updated though.
This aint no L-Kamino! |
