I recently bought a 79 Ranchero the dash says it's a 500. Can anyone please tell me exactly what the diffrences are between the standard ranchero, the 500, and the GT. I have the 351 with an auto trans, a split bench seat with the armrests that fold down in the middle. I have always wanted a ranchero and got a unbelievable deal on this running project truck, I have little knowledge on this and haven't found much online to enlighten me so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just purchased a 79 GT and just joined these forums. I too have very limited knowledge but am in love with my car. Perhaps we can do some comparing to discover differences...

The "500" is the standard model. The GT is one grade up from there and the GT "Brougham" has an additional package of options. The "Squire" is the "wallpaper woody" edition. Hope this helps...
