I noticed the other day that my transfer case on my 92 Bronco wouldn't shift to 4wL after I had driven through some water, 4wH worked fine. A day or so later, in totally dry conditions, it worked just fine. Today, I experienced the same thing again after getting the undercarriage wet, no 4wL but 4wH worked fine. I've got the electronic shift transfer case and am thinking about doing a conversion to manual now. Anyone have any ideas what would cause this? Do i need to maybe waterproof anything? |

I am having the same problem, although i cant even go into 4 wheel high. I need to fool around with it more, and am thinking of maybe making a cheap-o shroud for some of the electronics, although the gears sound like they grind, so then again, maybe it isnt the electronics.
This is really pissen me off cause it definately limits my off road ability. Half the fun is doing donuts in 2 wheel anyways, isnt it? |

Check out the shift solenoid on the side of the t/case. I'm pretty sure you'll find the problem there.
