I am 16 years old and have recently aquired a 1966 ford fairlane with a stock 289. I am currently in the process of rebuilding the motor with my dad and i am looking for a reasonable rebuild kit. I have found one on e-bay for $60 dollars that comes with all namebrand parts but i was wondering if that that deal was legit considering most rebuilds i have found cost around $300. If you have any information regaurding this then your info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Derrick.

Hi Derrick, Hi John,
There are probably thousands of places to buy aftermarket engine parts from... E-bay is no better or worse than any other as long as you do your homework before you buy.
If you stick with buying name brand parts and make sure that the seller has a long record of GOOD feedback it's usually pretty safe.
On the other hand some places offer quantity discounts if you order all the parts from them at one time.
Make sure you take into account the shipping charges if you're buying from different sources... sometimes it's cheaper to pay more locally than to pay the shipping.
It's always best to take the time to research all the options first.

Thanks D.B. I think he was more worried on quality of parts. Considering most rebuild kits are $200-$400 but I think most of these also include oil pumps.
