I got a 1979 ford pickup and I have some questions I hope someone can answer. I can't find anything really on the net. Its a silver and black pickup (this is all from the factory), has a 460/automatic, blacked out bumper/mirrors/rollbar, mag wheels, and says indianapolis on it. Does anyone have any info on this pickup, or where I could find some info. I was planning on lowering it, and I can't find anything for the front end really. I guess I could do it the old style way by cutting the spring and getting lowering brackets for the rear end. Any ideas or help is greatly needed. Really appreciate anything! peace,

I finally found some info! http://79indypace.stangnet.com/general.htm#truck ...got check it out. Not much, but interesting none the less. I am now considering restoring it instead of dropping it and making it into a custom street machine. Anyone have any opinions on what I should do?...the truck isnt in the best condition...the biggest problem being the black panels on the side are decals and are cracked to hell. Good luck at finding repros of those...

Is your truck a 100, 150 or 250. If you have a 100, I have seen drop coil springs on the net. As for the rear you could mount the leaves under the axle or get new leaves or shorter shackles. I lift all my vehicles so sorry I can't offer much info. I had those grotesque side stickers on my 76 F250 but I just sanded them all off and shot a coat of paint on it, it looks much better. |
