About a month ago I had my timing belt replaced in my 93 probe gt 2.5l
About a week after I got it back the check engine light turned on and stayed on.
Diagnostic revealed the CKP2 Sensor was the problem
I didn't feel any problems with the car, but the other day I started it up and the light wasnt on.
I drove off and a few minutes later it suddenly turned on, I had my foot on the gas at this moment and as it flickered on / off for a few seconds it the car made a funny clickin noise and lost power (rpm gauge dropped/picked up/ dropped with every flicker of the light)
Once the light was lit up again and stayed on, the car again drove normal.

Basically my question is:
How important is this sensor?
What kind of damage could I do if I just continued to drive around with it on?

Thanks?
