I have a 83 ford bronco.
Last summer I picked up A dana60 full float rear and 44 close knuckle for the
Front they are both out of a mid '70s highboy. I got the entire frame from the donor. everything will bolt up as long as I remove the original ifs system from the frame and install the front and rear hangers. Because in the early 80's all f150,f250,f350 and bronco's shared the same suspension points and front engine compartment. But is the 44 strong enough to take the punishment?? Under the hood I am running a 351 windsor bored 40 over with
edelbrock heads, intake, cam, and a holley double pumper. It does push alot of hp, I don't use the four wheel right now because I would get stranded.
can you make a 44 strong enough or should I start looking for a different set of dana 60's.. either way I will still use the stock lift blocks offered with the highboy, and the f350 gearbox that I salvalged. I would appreciate any input.

Mike,

What size tires will you be running? What type of offroading will you be doing?

I'd lean towards the dana 60 frontend as well, but it'll depend on what you'll be doing with the vehicle. You can buy hardend axle shafts but they are still dana 44 shafts...it just doesn't compare to the dana 60.
