Hi,
I am new to the group.
I need some help verifying & IDing what I believe is a CV P71 aluminum driveshaft. I found the driveshaft at the boneyard in a P71 Cop Car in it's proper location BUT the motor, trans & rearend were MIA. I will attempt to attach pics of it. I did not see any obvious "POLICE" ink stamp on it.
The driveshaft is 55 1/4" long center to center & 3 1/2" in dia. (I attached the 3 pics below of it & what is on it).
The other info I need is the specs & limitations of this shaft & what year P71 it came on (forgot to get the vin).
How much HP can this shaft take?
How much TQ can this shaft take?
What is the wall thickness of the aluminum tubing?
What grade of aluminum is the driveshaft madeof?
Thanks for the help.

You may want to check out the following website http://www.fordparts.com for Ford parts and interchangeability.

It's just a SUPER-DUTY Mustang GT Sedan. 198K miles and still rolling HARD.
1997 Crown Victoria P71 SVT *** ex-US Marshall service (the CAR)
STOCK?? I bet it was modified.
13.26 @ 107.24 MPH 1/4 mi w/ me, tools, & full tank of 93 octane
I added CAI, NICHE 19 X 8.5 " wheels with 245/45ZR 19 rubbers, and completely rebuilt the front end with poly bushings, Kooks headers, 2 1/4inch exhaust, TCI 2200-2400 rpm Stall converter
.PLANS:: engine upgrade, 5.4L 2v stroker, rebuild interior in leather w/ buckets, thinking about turbos

Thanks for the link. But neither # was found. I even looked under CV's of diff years & came close on Paint Codes but no exact match & after a specific year they stopped listing the paint codes on that Ford site. I also tried to register on the Crownvic.net site & ran into some tech problem & can't contact the site to try & fix it.
It looks like the shaft uses 1350 U-Joints which also helps date it as a newer shaft.
Can anyone please help?
Also still need the max power limitations of this shaft.
Thanks |
