Whats going on guys! I recently just went on my urge to completely turn my 1993 MGM in to a some what older looking Marauder. The car is no longer looking the way that it was, rims are gone, new headlights( tinted), custom 30k green hid foglights, smoked tails( tinted). Its primed right now debating on the paint I want either black, or flat black, im still debating. But my question is has anyone ever heard of doing a 4.6l 3v swap into a older MGM? I know a guy who has one(3v) with low miles, and i was wantng to buy it but wasn't sure how pricey it was going to be for the motor exchange? Of course im getting a man's tranny which i also found , another question will a T5 be a perfect match? I did the research for the parts that I needed, and I have a pretty good mechainc who assist me with my projects on my car, I just wanted to know is it possible to do such a swap? Sorry if I may sound stupid, but I still a rookie with all this Car Stuff lol? And of course i will keep you guys posted on my progress!

I don't have the quick answer...

Have you measured the donor vs yours..? It might take some time but you could get close...

It might take some chop....then welding...?

You should have the weather on your side...

The engine will fit. All modular engines use the same mounts, although the 3v and 4v are wider, but they will fit. Be sure you get the engine compartment wiring and the PCM, or you will never get it to run.

There are several articles around on www.crownvic.net and other web forums about people who have done the 4v modular swap, and unless you have the proper wiring harness and PCM, they won't run. Since the MGM and CV used return fuel system, be sure to set the "new" motor up the same.

WWW.crownvic.net has a good write up about an auto to manual trans swap. The T5 bellhousing was for the 5.0L, not the modular. I think you can get a bellhousing to match, but its not worth it. You will need a T45, TKO500, or newer 3650. Look for a trans that was behind a modular engine as the stock bellhousing will fit. My advice is to go with the hydraulic clutch set up. It is easier to adjust.
