I just wanted to let everyone know that I added links to pictures of the part on a reply to my original post. Hopefully that will help me get the part identified.

I have never seen anything like that attached to a battery. Since there are other wires going out from it, I would try to trace them down if possible and try to figure what circuit it is interrupting. Then you may be able to figure how to bypass the thing. But it still looks like some sort of alarm disconnect to prevent starting.

.PLANS:: engine upgrade, 5.4L 2v stroker, rebuild interior in leather w/ buckets, thinking about turbos
