I Bought a 06 crown vic police interceptor recently and everything has been perfect but the last time i floored it from a stop it didnt want to stop reving!!! i put it in nutral and it stayed at 4k without me touching the petal!! i noticed if i try to the use feature that moved the pedals up and down it starts to rev to 4k and it wont stop!!!! i did a little slide burnout and it kept reving to 4k and i almost hit a row of cars at a red light.
has this happend to anyone else that knows what just happened to me? i never had a cars accelerator get jammed at 4k revs on city streets before but that is not fun at all i think some poo came out!@!@ i like to fix stuff myself and if i drive it normally and floor it just goes just fine. but if i floor it at a stop or turning from a stop or adjust the petals it wont stop reving at 4k even if i shut it off or turn it back on. this is crazy |

From your description it sounds like you have some sort of binding problem with the pedals or throttle cable. I would recommend watching the pedals carefully while adjusting them with the car off to see if the gas pedal moves at all. If that is stationary check the throttle cable routing inside the car to the firewall and look for anything that may interfere, have someone move the pedals while you watch the cable. If you still don't see anything then check the cable routing from the firewall to the throttle body and do the same test moving the pedals. With the mechanical link in the Vic it has to be somewhere in how the throttle cable is being stretched or crushed. |

thanks @Curemode2002.
I used the pedal button to move it with the car off and the brake pedal moves up and down fine but i noticed the gas moves up slightly then starts to get pressed down to the floor when it should be moving up. |

You are right about the pedal and watching to see what happens when it is adjusted. That is likely where the problem is. Somewhere after the year 2000 (I believe) they stopped using throttle cables and went to a potentiometer at the pedal which talks to a servo at the throttle body with position sensor. In other words drive by wire and not cable. |
