What is your take on the potential war with Iraq? I'm no fan of Hussein by any means, but to me I think the whole thing is really hurting America's image. I have to admit that I'm starting to see why other countries think of us as a global bully. I mean, who are we to say which countries can and can't have nuclear weapons? We have them. Germany does. Why aren't we over telling Germany that they'd better disarm? Doesn't every country have a right to protect themselves just like we do?

Of course the Bush administration's point is that Hussein has shown that he's willing to use weapons of mass destruction. Well so has America. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we the only country to ever use them against an opponent?

The other thing is that we still have yet to see any proof. I don't understand why, if we have all kinds of evidence, can't the world be informed of it? Why all the secrecy? If there really is bundles of undiable proof of Iraq's weapons that is being used as the justification for war, don't the American people, who will be fighting that very war, deserve to know about it?

Don't get me wrong, I'm no tree-hugger. If Iraq shot a nuke at us, I'd say turn their country into a parking lot. But this conflict seems to stray from the typical American way.... am I missing something?

I feel pretty much the same way.

Other countries have launched biological attacks in the past(by means of nerve gas, mustang gas, etc.), but the US is the only country to launch an nuclear bomb on an enemy.

Another major point against just going to war. Is the economy. It is plain dumb to go starting a war when your country is in a bad economic position. And Bush wants more tax cuts? Sure, it's nice to get extra money back. But I would rather maintain a stable life in a stable country, then have a few extra bucks. The last war, cost us over 4 trillion dollars. And we still have that debt! I know many people think of Clinton as dishonest(as I do myself sometimes, even though I did vote for him both times), but he sure did a helluva job working on that debt. And during the Clinton years, we had jobs. In fact, the lowest unemployment rate around. Now we have a steadily increasing unemployment rate, a steadily decreasing economy.

I oppose the war.

The US has a very bad image in the eyes of most European, and Middle Eastern countries. They don't hesitate to ask us for help, but we are only hurting our own image by being the bully.

Well, to play devil's advocate, war has actually been proven to stimulate the economy. Then again, that may only be in wars of the past. The Great Depression was ended by the fact that WWII started up all of our factories because our troops needed clothing, food, medical supplies, ammunition, etc...

But I guess in this day and age, that may not be the case. Being that we can pretty much snipe anyone with an autonomous vehicle, the need for supplies probably decreases some

Iraq believes they won the Desert Storm war. Hussein is manipulative and dishonest. I would never trust anyone like that to having nuclear weapons. All it takes is one nuclear weapon to get past our defenses on U.S. soil. Considering the type of destruction that could result and the overall hatred towards the U.S. in the middle east, I don't mind being looked at as the bully. That said, there are plenty of other ways to protect/improve a country and develop relationships with foreign contries than to deceive the United Nations and produce weapons of mass destruction.

Right, but that's assuming Hussein really DOES have weapons of mass destruction. I guess we'll find out when Bush de-classifies our country's evidence against Iraq next week...

Hussein is threatining our national security every minute he has a weapon of mass destruction and chemical warfare. If you ask me there are some things worth fightning for. And as for us being a bully thats wrong think, about 9/11 I don't think we were the bully that day. Do you? And what about some of the Iraqi people, Hussein doesn't give a crap about them. He has said that he will set his oil fields on fire (like he did in Kuwait and recently did to his own fields) and blow up damns near Bagdad. Do you not remember what it felt like when those towers fell? I do and it hurts me to this day. And if we dont have this war something that bad WILL happen again. America has survived by standing up for what we believe.

It is God's right to judge him (Hussein, Laden) but it is our right to arrange the meeting.

diffrent resolutions for him to disarm over the last 11 years. The US desided that no matter how many we passed or how many people we had backing us, Saddam would just do another song and dance to fend us off for another couple years so he could work on getting his hands on more powerful or dreadful weapons. The UN could pass resolutions until they were blue in the face and it wouldn't make a differance, it would come down to him using them again, and the US didn't want to wait for that.
As for being the Police force for the world, The US is the strongest of the SuperPowers, therefore, we are damned either way. Its a double edged sword for us.
If were to go through this war and not find any evidance of these weapons(which

we have already)the US would be labeled a bully by all. But on this double edged sword we would lay, because;
If we stood back with all the other UN countries and did nothing, then Saddam used these weapons, WE would be blamed for not stopping this from happening.
My PaaPa used to tell me a little phrase when I was little.
"You can fuss around with a rattle snake all you want, and not heed the warning of it's tail, but remember that the more times you poke it with a stick the more likely he is to bite the next person when their not lookin."
Remember, We poked Bin Ladin with a stick over and over and he struck us in the back, We can't have that happen again.

Thanks For reading my post, I'm a US Airforce aircraft mechanic and my buddies are somewhere over there in support of this WAR.

I have tried to follow the whole war issue, but I just can't keep up. I have better things to worry about in ways. I mean don't get me wrong, the was is important to me. I'm in the journalism field in college so I understand a great deal about the news and what it reports. Everyone knows we don't see the WHOLE truth! Anyways! I like to read into things more than just black and white. What gives us any real proof that Saddam is over there? Just like bin Laden.. where is he? We dunno. And last night, I heard on the news that the FBI wants to question all the Iraqui people in the US. I think that is the right thing to do. We are blowing the other part of the world to bits... just to let everyone sneak in the back door. Yes, I may sound crazy... but it could happen. What if everyone we are after is in this country? Are we gonna kill all the Americans too?
