Hello all,
Like many of you, I have an aging Crown Victoria equipped with the electronic fuel door button by the trunk release. Also like many of you, I have had mine fail and throw the spring and contact across the driver seat at me because the button itself gave up the ghost. Some may have priced the OEM replacement and asked themselves how this part is worth $30-50. Others will have gone through Amazon and got one for $10, but pulling the door panel is always a pain in the ass. Well, if you have a 3D printer, or 3D printer-capable friend, I have come up with a (nearly) free solution. I have published it to Thingiverse, and hope that I can help others out here. Once printed, clean up any stringing/flashing from the printing and it will fit right where the old button shot out (make sure you put the spring and contact back in). This should be a drop-in replacement, and not require you to pull your door apart to get to the backside of the button to compress those shark fin looking tabs.

If linking to 3rd party websites is not permitted, I apologize in advance, I just wanted to share this with others in the event that they're looking for a solution that doesn't require removal of the door panel. |
