should switch to straight axle as opposed to the ttb i hav now can anyone tell the benifiets of the tbb and the draw backs of

What type of wheelin, do ya do.
If your hard core and you got some money burnin a hole in the pocket, I say do it.
For simple muddin or trail ridin TTB will do the job.
If you want an experience, buy the epuip and parts and
wheel till you break your axle, then change it. At least see what your
TTB can do before you chuck it. You may be suprised.

There are Pro's & Con's to both, depends on what you are going to be doing.

The Straight Axle

Pro's
1. been around a long time(Proven).
2. Lift Kits cost less.
3. Parts can be gotten from a junk yard cheap if need be.

Con's
1. Most of the time the axles will be used, Old and need to be rebuilt (not cheap).
2. Must change the axle seals a lot if Mud running, would be good idea to change the bearings too every now and then (lot of work) but not hard to do.

The TTB

Pro's
1. From what I was told, this is the way to go for rock climbing or going vertical up them hills.

Con's
1. CV's Joints, get them gone (install U-Joints on drive shafts with grease fittings), last longer & stronger.
2. Lift Kits - Must know how high you going, then make sure you understand what you are getting first, ask lots of questions, I know lots of people having problems with front end alignments.

My TTB has been good to me so far. after a couple wheeling trips the alignment is all out of whack though. the asxle joints are a major weak spot however. from what has been explained to me a solid is better for rocks and heavy trails. if you can talk somebody with a solid ask questions. also from what i hear a solid makes for a rougher ride on the street.

Heres my opinion, I own a 78 bronco with the solid axle dana 44 and then I also have a 90 F-150 with the IFS front end which I have been told is the equivalent of a dana 44.I have also found a difference in stock rims in these two applications, I have wheeled both and found that both of these are suitable for light to moderate off road use, I myself will prefer the solid axle anyday though and have one laying in my backyard that is going to be swapped into my truck sometime in the next year ( I hope). I hope this can help you decide and remember that with a solid axle you can also get a tougher front end by upgrading to the dana 60, 70 or maybe even a Rockwell.

thanks for all the help. i guess the biggest question is what kinda wheeling i will be doing and the answer is hill climbin, light to medium trails and lots of mud. as far as ride goes my truck rides like a stinkin brick sh*t house(that means very very rough). i think i will just stay with the ttb for now and if i destroy it or i have a need for it i will do a swap.
