I am trying to get the exhaust manifolds off - so I can take off the heads. Driver's side exhaust pipe came off *easy*. Go over to the passenger side and what the !(#*%)?! The one bolt is easy to get to, the other one - seemingly no access. Thanks, Ford, thanks a lot. I suppose I can remove the starter motor, but even then, it doesn't look like there is access. Instructions say I should remove the exhaust pipe too, which on the Bronco seems like next to impossible.
Any clues/pointers, here?

I answered my own danged question. There IS a crack where you can see the other bolt. I used an air wrench with the following combination: socket + any-angle adapter + 12" extension + 6" extension + air hammer. That got the danged thing off with 0 clearance between the extension and the catalytic converter! Yay!
Got off the driver's side exhaust manifold and 3 of the bolts were only hand-tight! No wonder it sounded "breathy"!! Took off the valve covers and the valves are all black and goopy like they're covered in black silicone. It's *bad*. For only 125K miles, I'm astonished. it's as if somebody put a 300K mile engine back into this Bronco and didn't tell anybody about it (I just bought it used).
anyone know where the engine serial # is, so I can check it's year of manufacture?
