This starts fine until I fill it up. Is it related to the gas cap venting the system or something else.
I can get it to start by pressing the gas pedal down while cranking the engine over. But it will not idle. so after 3 tries, I got it moving before it could get to idle . Short trip home about a mile, it now starts like normal
thanks For you help |

It could be the gas cap and they are fairly cheap so they are usually a good place to start. Other possibilities are the Vapor Canister, Vapor Canister Purge Valve or Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid. If you overfill the tank it can actually fill the Vapor Canister with gas and cause issues in the system, if this is the case you usually have to change the Canister as it kills the charcoal filter inside. If you are generating a check engine code I recommend pulling the code as they will usually narrow the issue down to the Vent or Solenoid for ya. You can pull codes for free at Orielly and Autozone. |

I pulled the plug off the Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid, turned on the ignition switch , put a test light to the plugs and the test light did not light. I could not find the fuse location in the owners manual . would you happen to know it?
thanks

Hi
The fuse is ok. I went back and retested the plug. This time one pin and the other to ground via the test light and the test light worked. I plug it back on and took it off again and I could not feel the plunger working. this may be a bad test. could I use a 12 volt battery charger ? |

I did use a battery charger and 2 test lights to get to terminals on the valve
I did get a little thump out of it. The test lights were taking up some of the voltage
Really hard to say if it is good without knowing how much it needs to move. But my guess is it is ok
thanks
