Hello Folks, new to the site here, as I have just purchased a mint 91 Vic. Old man had it, going into retirement home, no longer needs it, never driven in snow, yada, yada, yada. Beautiful car, couldn't pass it up for the price. Normally being a GM man all my life, owning well over a 100 cars, this is only the 4th Ford I've owned. After spending a couple weeks behind the wheel, I'm figuring out all of it's idiosyncrasies. First off, the F.I. 302 is gutless compared to some Fox body Stangs I have driven. My nephew, who is a hardcore Fox body man, says GT40 heads should wake it up. Second is the transmission. Despite being freshly re-built, it makes grinding noises and shifts poorly. I found this site based on googling how to put a 460 in it. So here's my question to you'all, what would be a good, cost effective way to spruce her up? Adding GT40/Cobra parts to the 302, updating to more cubes? Will the taller F.I. 351 intake fit under the hood? Any one ever tried a F.I. version of the 460 in one? I have honestly contemplated a T5 swap, that is if I were to keep the 302 in her. is there a pedal set available to put a stick shift in a Vic? Looking forward to a new adventure, appreciate any help !!

If you want to learn anything Crown Victoria, go to www.crownvic.net We have a variety of people who have and still own Crown Victoria, grand Marquis, and Town cars. And many who RUN them hard.

IMHO I would either rebuild the 302 as a Fox body engine. The GT40 heads and intake will wake it up. Or you could go to the 351 with the closed-chamber Cleveland heads (They are still be built in Australia.)

Sounds like the drive train is dieing. Go with the AOD or the pre-1998 4R70W / AODE That fourth gear will help with fuel mileage after 45 mph, but the lowers will help put a pull into the engine.

The 460 is way to large to fit. To get it to fit, you are talking about putting it high in the chassis, removing the hood, and lots of cutting. Never a good idea. The small block fits except for minor hood clearance problems. Most add a hood scoop to compensate. And the small block can be built up to 427 ci (351 large-bore block and stroker crank).

It's just a SUPER-DUTY Mustang GT Sedan. 198K miles and still rolling HARD.

1997 Crown Victoria P71 SVT *** ex-US Marshall service (the CAR)
STOCK?? I bet it was modified.

13.26 @ 107.24 MPH 1/4 mi w/ me, tools, & full tank of 93 octane

I added CAI, NICHE 19 X 8.5 " wheels with 245/45ZR 19 rubbers, and completely rebuilt the front end with poly bushings, Kooks headers, 2 1/4inch exhaust, TCI 2200-2400 rpm Stall converter

.PLANS:: engine upgrade, 5.4L 2v stroker, rebuild interior in leather w/ buckets, thinking about turbos
