I took my 2007 Crown Vic into the dealer to have the normal 135000 mile service done.
They called to let me know that both backup lights were out, and the left and right brake lights were out, and asked if I wanted them to replace them. I said no, I would replace them when I got the car back home. When I got the car back home, I checked, and both backup lights were just fine and working. I checked, and ALL brake lights were out, including the 3rd brake lights on the back window shelf. I am already thinking dumb dealership. I check the # 14 & # 28 fuses, and they were fine.
I bought a new life time brake light switch, and replaced the brake light switch. Now ALL the brake lights were working great. The next night we went to dinner, and when I came out to leave, I could not get the car out of Park. The brake lights were still working fine. I was using my phone to try and find a way to by pass the Parking lock. All I could find was to turn the key part way on, and then shift into Neutral. I should mention that the 2007 Vic does not come with a steering lock, so this method does not work. I had the car towed home. The next day I finally found a video that showed how to push a button under a rubber cap, under the steering column, to by pass the Parking lock. This works great.
This was all fine for a few days. Now tonight, I have no brake lights again. I checked those 2 fuses again, and they are fine. Any ideas what might be happening, and any ideas how to fix it? |
