Hello to all, this is my first post and I have been reading posts on this forum for a while. I very recently acquired an 04 Crown Vic with 41000 miles on it. It has been garage kept and belonged to my wife's Aunt and it looks the part of a garage kept car. It's absolutely beautiful. I read a lot about the issues with the 4.6 engine and most of them don't relate to engine noise. This car has a slight knocking sound just above idle with a slight load that will disappear as the rpm goes above 1500. I put a manual oil pressure gauge on it and ran the car 10 miles or so to get the oil hot and had 75 psi cold max and 20 psi idle hot. The pressure goes straight up to 55 as soon as you touch the gas. I know a loose crank pulley, loose converter bolts, or a cracked flex plate will cause knocking sounds. I changed the oil when I first got it and cut the filter open, and it was clean. I checked the converter bolts and the front crank pulley, and they were tight, couldn't really see the flex plate up where it bolts to the crank. Any thoughts???
