oooboy.. okay first things first.
fuel... fuel is clean, no dirty fuel filter. fuel pump is working and you can squirt fuel out at the intake when you turn on the ignition? or is it a mechanical fuel pump?
air... air cleaner is clean? any mice inside the intake manifold? (not a joke, check the threads)
fire... are the spark plugs receiving electricity? how is the cap and rotor/points?
electricity... when you turn the key does the motor turn over? is the turnover fast or slow... does the motor sound "tight"?
Have you used starting fluid to help out.
oh... if you have a cap and rotor, pull the cap off, and crank the engine... is the rotor spinning? if not camshaft and or rotor shaft might need replacement.
drain engine of all oil. put front end up on jack stands, remove oil pan, crank engine over, check for spun bearings or crankshaft issues
pull each spark plug out, one by one, and crank engine, check for piston pressure.
pull off valve covers, crank engine, make sure the lifters and rockers are working properly.
the list is long but not endless.. please tell me the things you have checked and the things you haven't. |
