I have a 400cid that came out of a 78 bronco and was wondering if it would fit into a 1976 bronco, I was told that this bronco once had a 351 in it but after blowing the motor it was replaced with a 302. It has been lifted and rides on 35's.

If the 351 was an M series motor it is a direct bolt in. If it was a Windsor You will need to swap trans, mounts, and acc. brackets.

351M and 302 will not interchange 351C or 351W and 302 will.
Why you ask.
351M has the big block tranny bolt patern. same as 400 390 429 460
302 351C/W are all small block patern.
Even though the 351M is based on the 351C just with taller deck hight and
the bigblock tranny bolt patern being the big differances.
Hope this clears a bit up for you.

Andy's correct about the interchange.
However, that's kinda a moot point.
You'd need a "shoehorn" and probably some firewall modifications,
to fit a 400 in a 1976 Bronc'.
If you could find someone with a 351W, to swap your 302 with.....

You will need the motor mount strut towers to be able to put the 400cid in, Trans will need to be changed, some other parts too.

Well the 400cid block was, good as long as you keep it stock, lots of Turq.

If you plan to do the motor up - found the crankshaft snout would brake off with to much HP - So if you are going to go for more HP just go to a 429cid or the 460.

There was a (Small Block C6 and a Big Block C6) so make sure you got the right Trans. Make sure it is the Big Block C6.
