I have a 94 F-150, and I have had a Pioneer P3300 professionally installed at Best Buy. But I bought another amplifier, and need to figure out how to remove the head unit to access the plugins in the back. Is anyone familiar with how to take out an installed head unit? thanks. |

The Pioneer came with keys (as do all head units). These keys release the clips that prevent someone from stealing the unit. Simply use the keys and pull it out. The directions for the unit will give details on how to do it as all brands are a bit different. They should have given you the factory box with the directions and the keys when they did the install.

more than likely the shop you got the head unit installed by did not send the keys home whith you after the install.
probably the best way to get it out with out them is to pull the face plate off ( if it is removeable) and the surounding trim piece, you will see two holes on each side of the head unit.
take a wire coat hanger and cut it into 4 short pieces, push one into each hole until you feel a slite click which will be the latches releasing, then just work it out little by little . it may take some time since that style dash is a pain in the @$$ with head unit installs |

yeah, with these head units, they came with 2 keys, one per side. They look almost like a 1 with a notch at the bottom to help move the metal retention clip and then you pull it out. I'm sure that if you go back to best buy, they would help you and and iither give, or sell the keys to you if they did not give all the remaining hardwhere back to you.
