Good afternoon,
My name is Electrofied and I am just getting ready to start my P71 Interceptor project.
Up until now I have owned and highly modified a 2005 Dodge Magnum RT. Now that I have done all that planned I have gotten bored and am selling it.
The next project is the Interceptor and I am researching my options which is why I found this forum.
I am planning on purchasing a 2005 or newer model so tuning is not an issue via Diablo Sport CMR.
I am thinking of going with a crate motor with DOHC and forged pistons, rods, and crank. In addition I want to swap out the rear-end with a Mustang rear-end as well as going with a Mustang manual tranny but I am not sure if they bolt right up at this point or how much modifying I am looking at doing.
I also need to do some research to see if the Marauder offers any parts that can be used that would make sense for the project.
As far as exterior and interior mods... just looking to make the rear door window static removing the motors and hardware to help lighten the vehicle, move the battery to the trunk, and change out the front seats to deep bolstered leather buckets as most if not all Interceptors come with cloth.
I will retain the front push bars, tint the windows, tint the tail-lamps, HID conversion for the headlamps etc.
Whether I go with a manual tranny or not I will be removing the column shifter and going with a center console shifter.
AS far as wheels I want to stick with the black steelies or find a staggard aftermarket replica that is lighter if possible.
If not I will cut the rear steelies and widen them a bit and make any necessary changes to the wheel well, i.e. rolling the fenders etc...
As I understand it the Interceptor comes with oil and trans coolers and an aluminum driveline... perfect for what I am doing...
Along with a motor swap, crate or self-built... Headers and exhaust are planned and definately electric cut outs... Now I know the cuts outs may not add any power and in some cases rob some horse power, but man they get the attention at an event.
I want the car to pretty much look like an LEO Interceptor... Including mirror lights, grill strobes, headlight and tail light or license plate strobes, and interior mounted led flashers. I will go with amber for front facing LED/Strobes and red rear facing to stay somewhat legal.
For those of you who may have some experience with the Interceptors please hit me up with input and suggestions for the motor and drivetrain.
Thank you,
Electrofied |
