Hello! Is this is a 1972 Ranchero? My brother insists it is a 1969. I believe it came with the 302 or 390. It has a 428 police interceptor in now. Anyone that can tell me more on this VIN would be appreciated, like year and value. It is for sale also. I am in Northern California Thank you!

Your brother is correct. This IS a 1969 as indicated by the first # in the vin 9. You are correct that the original engine for this car was a 390 it was the top level 390 4v 320Hp 427Ft/Lp as indicated by the letter S in the vin. The 428CJ/SCJ used a different letter (R & Q). The 428CJ/SCJ was the top engine option available in 1969 for this car. The 390 & 428 engine are of the FE engine series which was not available in cars after 1970 model year. The FE 390 did continued on in trucks untill 1976.

I suggest you check out the FCA (The Fairlane Club Of America). A great club that covers 1963 to 1976 Ford Fairlane, Torino & their Merc equivlents.

Hope this helps.
