I am bringing back to life a 1985 Ford F150 (2 wheel drive, V8 305, 2BBL) that has sat for about 6 years.
I took the old rusty gas tanks off and ordered a new 19 gallon side tank and filler neck tube. Here's the problem. The original filler neck tube for the '85 had a large diameter outer rubber hose and inside it was a flexible, corrugated plastic hose. The plastic hose is what actually carried gas to the tank and the outer tube was for venting/"burping" the gas so that it wouldn't back up in the tube during filling. They don't sell the inner flexible tubes any more! Only the outer rubber tube. No junkyards around here have them either and I have been unsuccessful finding one on the internet.
I'm thinking about either just getting a piece of hose that is the right length and diameter and sticking it in there... OR
I heard that the Bronco from 1985 had the same setup and that starting in 1986, they came up with a different design that did not include the now un-obtainable inner plastic tube. But other than that, the newer ones are an exact fit as far as placement, etc on the Bronco. I'm thinking the same would be true for the F150 probably.
