K right beside the number 4 cylinder/spark plug/coil over. Right beside the intake there is hose that is a coolent line, it started too leak into the number 4 cylinder/spark plug/coil over and short out that cylinder/spark plug/coil over with coolent. My check engine light came on and I looked and seems to be plastic of some kind the Intake manifold? Is this the only type of manifold available for my 2003 crown vic 4.6? Why would Ford make that plasitc? Anyone ever experience this issue, I was able to temperay have fixed, but will have to replace that intake manifold!!! |

Yes, Ford does make a "plastic" intake manifold for the 4.6 L / 5.4 L engines. The newer PI intake does have a better coolant crossover tube made of metal.
There is a couple of companies that make a metal intake for the 4.6l, but the cost is about twice that of the OEM manifold.
Check out some of the forums online to see what people have to say. Unless you plan to go racing seriously, the OEM is still your best part.

hi apology for making this thread up.It seems that one of the injection mold points on the side of the manifold closest to the steering pump blew out. i have temporarily repaired it using some Permitex and some cardboard, but i do not know how long that will last. is there anyone here could help me? thanks a lot. |

heres your help......replace the manifold. ant attemps to repair the manifold= crumpling money up and throwing it in the trash. dorman makes the best aftermarket manifolds that i have seen(just replace the spring crip for a hose clamp on the extra outlet tube) they even come with instructions for removel and installation. pretty slick deal, and very afforable. |
