K I spent 300 for a tempary fix on my intake near the #4 cylinder, the coolent was leaking into this #4 cylinder and causing miss fires. Anyhow, they tempary fixed it, two weeks later the intake manafold started to leak from the themostat part of the manafold into 5,6,7 cylinders. now i have to purchase a new plastic manafold for 400 plus 4 hours labour at 85 an hour.... in the window of two weeks I am spending over 1000. I just bought this P71... Man I've had to put alot of money into this car, one thing after another since i bought it... ran great for a month or so then break down after break down. I just hope this is the last issue.... close to 3000 in reapairs so far... I love my car but holyee It only has 160, 000. lots of power when i got it, just started to break down all the time, when do i cut my losses?

Most P71 had the intake manifold repaired under warranty. However, several thousand were bypassed because of what they were assigned to, and are no longer covered by warranty of any kind. The intake from Ford Racing doesn't cost that much (about $300 USD). Replacing one is a bit of a pain but if you have something like the Haynes Manuel, the book walks you through it.

When do you call it quits? That depends on how much you love the car. I've seen some get the intake replaced, and then the transmission rebuilt, and keep on going to 400,000 MILES before its put out to pasture. The choice is yours.

yeah I know! I was just venting my fustration. When I bought this P1 Crown Vic, shortly later my wife wanted one and her is an '04 and I think her is faster somehow? maybe ex highway pursuit car I dont know? My mother liked my wifes so she bought an '04 too and hers is the same as my wifes '04 they are both fast. Don't get me wrong, my car pulls really hard out of the gate, Its just I can feel the difference when i drive there cars....

Anyhow I know that some people in my family like my Dad, say get rid of it!!! But I simply love my car and will stand by it... planning on keep my P71 around awhile lol

Thanks
