The other night, when I was driving home from work, my Check Engine light came on and stayed on. I got it scanned (car has OBDII) at the local parts store. Code was misfire #1 spark plug. I replaced all the plugs, busted a couple knuckles getting in between the fuel rails lol. The light is still on. Would it require a few drives to reset itself or does it need to be rescanned to reset it. HAGO Folks!

A misfire can be from plugs, wires coil or even the DIS. You need to check these parts out before you just start throwing parts and hoping it turns off. I bought myself a scan tool that does more than just shows the code. It tells whether its an electrical conection or a faulty part. You can take an OHM meter and check your plug wires and coil. You can take your dis in and have it tested. Try swapping the coil packs from 1 side to the other and see if it throws a code for a different cylinder. If so, then you know that you have a bad coil pack. If not, then it may be a wire.

Went to the auto parts store to use their scanner. I erased the code, the light didn't come back on. Nice that it was just a spark plug, since last month, I dropped $700 into the car due to the ignition switch shorting out and frying the computer, the cam and crank sensors and a couple other parts I cannot remember the name of. BTW is the #1 cylinder the front cylinder on the driver's side?
