I want to mount a ham radio and a cb in my 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis. THe mount that looks the most suitable for my needs is a transmission hump mount.

Have any of you ever drilled into the hump and or can anyone tell me the amount of clearance or how to check how far down i can drill?

Hey EricK: Try taking a trip to a tranny shop...they can probably give you a quick 'guesstimate' to your clearance issue(s)...

Otherwise....jack the car....w/'torch' in hand...crawl under the front end & check it out....

My guess would be about 3 inches in most areas...just a guess....
