I recently acquired a nice 1995 CV. The driiver's interior trim panel fits loosely because of several broken retainers on the backside, due, no doubt by someone trying to remove the panel with a pry bar. (I didn't did it!) I was a Ford technician for a few years, and I do know better. It seems that salvage yard panels all have the same problem. Is there some way to fix this? The panel (tan) is in real good shape otherwise. Also, the cruise conntrol is inoperative. I haven't tried to fix this yet. I have already replaced the brake light switch. It was fried, along with the wire end terminals, which had been replaced before. Scruffybeast

I wish you luck with bringing it up to par. Some of the trim work CAN be repaired with epoxy and plastic support, but try not to get them TOO trick. Of course, the next option is a factory replacement (which can get expensive quickly).
Pull out the service manuals and start troubleshooting. In a lot of cases the problem with the cruise control are corroded contacts.

A cheap way to fix the loose door panel is to use a few sheet metal screws. You can paint the heads the same color as the trim and screw them into the inner sheet metal panel. |

Thanks for the replies on my broken door panel retainers. I am corresponding with some salvage dealers that advertise online. I actually found three of them in a local salvage yard;, and they were even the right colors, but they had been savaged already. Too bad. The hook type retainers are actually quite strong, but as they say, if you try to make something foolproof for fools, you are underestimating the genuis of our outstanding fools! Thanks guys.
