I can't believe I said excelerating. Argh. Sorry. "ACCELERATING"

I have an '06 Expedition with a 5.4 Triton. 107K miles.

When I'm accelerating at speeds of, say... 45+, I get a bucking sensation at low RPM as I apply the gas. Almost like a hesitation. It is only fixed when i take my foot off the accelerator and it downshifts/comes out of overdrive.

A friend with a plug in monitor hooked it up to the computer under the dash and it told him that it was my rear catalytic converters. I've read other forums on the web that seem to point to other possibilities.

Money is a real issue for me right now. I really need to get a solid idea of what is wrong. I simply can't afford to dump a lot of money into one idea and not have it work.

I'm not extremely talented mechanically and I only have my driveway to work in.

Any ideas, suggestions, insight?

Thank you in advance.
