Hi everybody. I have a problem with the wife's car. The headlights started flickering a couple of nights ago while I was driving it. Before I could get it home, a cop stopped me and said the tail lights were not working. At home I found out that the brake lights, turn signals, and flasher work IF the headlights are shut off. The instrument panel lights are off except they come on for a second when the headlights flicker.
I replaced the headlight switch with a $50+ unit from NAPA. The headlights still flicker and the tail lights dont' work. Brake and signals do work. The light on the shifter works and that's on the same fuse as instrument lights, so I believe that fuse is good. (It's hard to see the fuse even with a mirror and flashlight.) The battery was tested and the cable terminals are tight.
Any advice would be appreciated. She needs the car for work and I'd like to at least try to figure this out. (Like a lot of other people, we don't have much $$$ right now. |

I just noticed something about the flickering light problem. When I open the door the courtesy light comes on ok. It doesn't flicker until I pull the headlight switch out to the first position aka "parking lights" only. If I shut the headlight switch completely off, the interior light stops flickering. |

I think you have some loose connections on the holder connectors. So you need to look at them if they are loose or broken any connections then fix it. I was suggesting you the bulb replacement but you already try that. So check the connections I am damn sure the problem is with the connections. Good Luck dear..
