After noticing that Westway Ford Irving, TX chose to take my car out for a night on the town last week, I called the dealership and was told I must be lying about the mileage because they wrote it all down. I attempted to calm down and wrote the following in an email.

Westway Ford,

I am writing to complain about my recent service with your shop. On Monday, June 4, 2003 I brought in my 2000 Mustang Saleen to have an Air Conditioning problem resolved. The car stayed at your shop overnight, while you waited for a part to be delivered. Tuesday at 4:30, I arrived to pickup the vehicle and was disappointed in what I found.

My car stereo settings had all been changed and an alternate CD inserted into the deck. Both seats, and the steering wheel, had been adjusted for someone else. My clutch is now making a high pitched squeek, and travels much differently than before I dropped off my car. The car has 23 miles on it that cannot be accounted for.

Once I began to suspect that someone had driven the car, I completed the drive home, and took pictures of the mileage stated on the Oil Change, as well as what my mileage was driving home. (See Attached) When I arrived at home last night, I had 24,072 miles on the car. Your shop claims that my car had 24,031 miles on it when it was given back to me. When I drove the car to Ford today, the driving distance was 18 miles.

24,072 – 18 mile drive home = 24,054

24,054 – 24,031 = 23

23 miles were put on my car by someone other than me. With these facts in mind, I am very unhappy with my service. Upon speaking to the Service Manager, it seems that Westway Ford is not interested in doing anything to resolve this matter. I would like to hear what you are willing to do to make me a happy customer.

Cordially,

G Hughes

I have yet to receive a reply to either the phone calls, or the above email. I have clutch damage, and about half of my new tires sticking to the side of my car.

Please do not let this dealership work on your car for any reason!!!

I would like to add my experience with Westway Ford. After going to another dealer for oil changes and getting pissed off when they used 5w-20 even though my car uses 5w-30 I decided to go to Westway, which is close to work. I went in and told them to do it right as it is the SVT Focus. The invoice said 5w-20. I went to the service adviser to ask him why, he said it was 5w-30, drew a line through it and wrote in 5w-30.
I went in for several more oil changes and they drew a line through the 5w-20 and wrote in 5w-30. The last time I went in I questioned them again about the invoice saying 5w-20. This time a different service rep said they had used the wrong oil, he even wrote that on my invoice, and sent it back to change the oil again. When I got the car I drove it home, let it sit and checked the oil level. It was 6/16's over the max level. I think they just threw in about a quart of ? as he didn't have the car long enough to change it again.
I went back to Westway (Worstway) and told them to take it out. The service rep called out the oil jockey who also brought another guy with him and they refused to take it out. He said it was only 1/4 of an inch overfilled.
I got pissed off, took it to another dealer, had them document it, and paid to have it removed. Then I wondered about the oil filter. I went to Walmart, found the right motorcraft oil filter and it was a different part number from the one listed on ALL the invoices given to me by Westway and the other dealer I had been to. I bought it went home, took the other one off and installed the right one. They had been using the filter for the normal DOHC Zetec engine. The SVT engine uses a different non-restrictve oil filter. Now my oil pressure builds up faster, IT STAYS UP, and it peaks a little bit higher.
The invoices say 5w-20, and even though they scratched through it and wrote in 5w-30 I am sure they have been using 5w-20. That is also what is used in the normal DOHC Zetec engine.
I am going to fight this.
Be extremely cautious when dealing with Westway (Worstway).

I wish you luck !!!!
