my passenger side window motor is now not working, and now the window is stuck in the down position. I did some foolen around, and the motor seems to be inaccessable with the window down. Is there any kind of manual override? i tried just pulling the window up, but the gears are all locked up, and i end up just lifting the car up, which i know cant be good.

i now have the window out of the tracks and duct taped to the door.
I also have a dent in the door, so am just thinking of replacing the door, and possibly getting it repainted and such, but would rather just replace the motor. Damn ford doors are so hard to work with.

thanks

You have 2 options. The factory style fix is to drill out the rivets that hold the motor and the arm actuator assembly. This is the most thorough. you will then simply un bolt the motor, go to advance auto parts and pick one up for 50. The easier and slightly more userfriendly method is to take a hole saw, and drill 1 in holes over the 4 screws then with some ingeuity, unbolt and remove the motor. This is simpler. Once the motor is off, the window will go up.

i tried to do that, but the forth screw is covered by the big gear that runs between the window and the window motor.

thanks for your help

Ford sells a kit that contains all of the innards of the gearbox, including a new tube of grease. Thats all that ever breaks. Drill out the rivets amd bolt it back in. Hold up the glass with tape while you do it. It's not that hard. The kit is 22 bux.
