Owner: seminole
From: sterling hts., MI, U.S.A.        (Other registries in MI)
Year, Make, & Model: 1979 Ford Ranchero        (Other Ford Rancheros)
Nickname: EL RANCHARO
Mileage: 148
Engine: 351 C/ 400 M, W/ factory edelbrock alum intake W/ holly carbureter. The engine is factory specs. I've installed M/T polished alum valve covers that were in the garage just collecting dust they add a personal touch. I have full service records which show a valve grind at 90,000 miles. engine runs great.
Drivetrain: This Ranchero has a standard drive train W/ a three speed transmission. the rear end has a 273 ratio. It has disc brakes in the front W / drums in the rear. The drive train is in great condition. I have the maintainance records for this vehicle since it was new.
Notes: I was out of my home state driving down the road, for this what I did for a living. I was running the back roads down in Ohio, I saw this ranchero with a cap over the bed sitting up in this farrners drive way. I had a ranchero at the time but I thought I'd like to take a look at this one anyway. I came back through a week later and stopped. But no was there when I knocked on the door of the farm house. I left a note and my card for some one to call me if the car was for sale. I got back home a week later to a phone call saying they might be interested in selling for the right price. Naturally he felt it was worth more. ( We all ready knew that did'nt we ). A couple of weeks later I was in the area so I went a few miles out of my way and stopped by the farm and a older gentle man came to the door. We introduced our selves and walk over to this extremely faded (primer showing in several places) ugly ranchero. I must mention that I hate the over the bed cap on a ranchero, even though it was roof level with out the hump. I dont really mind the ones that taper down in the back, but it was there. Not a rust spot on it any where. the car had Calif. plates on it. He told me he had just came out east to see his sister and stay a couple of months. He told me he bought the car brand new to haul his paint and supplys. He was a interior decorator in New Port beach, Calif. After we talked for a while, we were to far away on price. We made our pleasant good byes and I was back down the road. For some reason I felt he didn't want to drive back to Calif, but I just let it go. Low and behold a week later I get a call from his sister, asking if I still wanted the car, at my price. I told her that I did indeed. What a great family, it was another few weeks before I was down there again. They were all waiting for me as I pulled up in front of the farm. They invited me in, and during coffee I wrote out the check to her. she spent a day cleaning the ranchero up for me, How hospitable, Now the story doesn't end here. Once again I leave with out MY ranchero, promising to return ASAP. I was pulling a tanker at the time with no one with me so there was nothing else I could do. Now I can't get back down there for a month and a half. were they up set, not at all, she washed the ranchero every couple of days thinking I'd get there and it would be dirty. Were getting close to the end, I finally get a hold of some one to go with me to get the poor ranchero. On a saturday my buddy Joe jumps in the Pete and off we go. Poor Joe has a bad back, so I had to stretch the truck out so it would ride better for him, I even had to pull over get out and adjust his air ride seat to make him as comfortable as possible. there isn't any end to what a person would do for their ranchero. I should of said (almost), yes there is a double bunk in there But there is nobody aloud behind the curtain but me.Joe and I made the trip all right. I told Joe i'd be over after I unloaded the truck. I was two weeks getting the ranchero out of Joe's drive way, That is another story. thank you for taking time to read this. jp
