The engine is a .030 over 390 for a total of 396 cubic inches. It has a Crower custom cam, ported and polished low riser heads with Ferrea stainless steel valves, Dove roller rockers, fully balanced rotating assembly, std/std crankshaft, CJ rods with ARP bolts, and Speed Pro flat top forged pistons, Duraspark distributor, and an MSD 6-AL ignition box. The block was torque plate honed and also zero decked for maximum compression. It has an Offenhauser Port O Sonic intake topped with a Holley 750 DP with a ProForm main body. The exhaust consists of Crites 2" primary headers back to a 3 inch X pipe and Dynomax bullet mufflers. |
Drivetrain: |
The transmission is a toploader 4 speed out of a 64 Galaxie. It has been rebuilt and has a Hurst Competition plus shifter, Lakewood Scattershield, and a custom RAM clutch. The rear end has 3.70 gears and new positraction unit. |
Notes: |
I bought this car from a garage that took it in on trade for some work that was done. The gentleman that had the car before him, bought it new for his wife in 65 and she drove it to church and the grocery store. The man I got it from had receipts showing the accuracy of the mileage. 25,000. Any I bought it reasonably cheap as it had been sitting for about 15 years with only minimal operation. But it did fire up and drive home. I drove it with that engine for about 4 years and it finally went, thats when I changed over to a 390 and went from a Cruisomatic to a 4 speed. |
