Engine: |
429 Thunder Jet; SCJ Cam; Mostly Stock: should be enough to push the rust bucket around the mud! |
Drivetrain: |
Rear 9" & freshly swapped front solid Dana 44 (Stock Gears @ the moment); 2x C6's to choose from; NP205 chosen over Stock NP208: Looks like I will need to modify the driveshafts now b/c of t-case lengths. |
Notes: |
I got this truck from a buddy a couple of years ago and I am trying to finish it under $5k. Right now I am @ about $3500. I removed the body and need to finish plugging in the front axle before I drop its new big block heart. Will blow or will it go? (b/c motor has not been started yet) |

Maintenance & Modification Logs
Date | Type | Mileage | Title / Description | $ Amount | 09/09/06 | Miscellaneous | | Title Work and Any Work Sorry about the delay. I need to get the title clear before I start bolting to much to the frame. To add to that: I partied at my best friend's wedding (Hey Billy!!) in Louisiana, sponsored at a church camp and now I am finally wrapping up an overdue project for work. That is life! My buddy told me to get off my butt up start turning wrenches because people are actually looking at this project. So with that, I am back on task. | 0.00 | 09/09/06 | Modification | | Mocking Up Radius Arm Brackets I took the 2x2 steel square tube and mocked it up with 2 layers of 1/4" steel spacers. It looks like I will need a 1/2" of filler to center the bracket to the 2x2 square tube. When I go back to work Monday, I will use a demo saw to rip my spacers out of a 2x2x1/4 angle iron. I will also post the pics. | 0.00 | 07/15/06 | Modification | | Fabbing Radius Arm Brackets I started fabbing the radius arm brackets. I am needing a dropped bracket because of the large springs. I was able to modify the o.e. brackets with some steel from my "treasure" pile: 1/8" thick 2"x2"square tubing, 1/4" forged spacer. This tubing should give me better strength because of size. The spacer is to further lower the bracket to fit 2 o.e. rivet holes on the sideof the bracket. (Pics soon to be posted.) | 0.00 | 07/11/06 | Miscellaneous | | Online Display First pictures of my project! Project started E-X-T-R-E-M-E-L-Y slow. I guess that happens when your wife decides to have a baby right in the middle of your project (Boy; 7lbs. 2oz.; 11:48am; June 9, 2005). Oh well, back to work. The axle is under the frame and the body is off. I hope to have a big block running between the rails in 2 weeks. Praise to GOD for my blessings! Stay Off-Road!! | 0.00 | 07/11/06 | Modification | | Project Progess At This Point An original 80 Bronco being modified. Not counting OE parts, here is what I have laying around so far: replacement 429 Thunderjet half rebuilt; T-Jet carb rebuilt; spare older C6; replacement NP205 torn down; rebuild kits for NP208 and 205; '79 Bronco cross member; replacement solid front dana 44 with lift springs; replacement interior parts; beat up replacement drive shafts; partial front end rebuild kit; 2" body lift kit; cooling fan; tranny cooler; and a some more junk! My goal is $5K for offroad ready. | 3,500.00 | Total | 3,500.00 |
