It had a 351M when I got it and a deathe knock. I pulled the motor and tore it down to find the factory had screwed up the crank bore and it was sitting way off. The front main was barely showing wear while the rear was down to bronze. I had it line bored and we stroked and bored it to 400 cu in and thin I got an idea from a Ford Truck site to get "quenched heads" which I had never heard of. It took 6 months to round up a pair and it was worth the wait. Once I had them checked and put them on the motor was all I wanted it to be. After putting it in and getting the linkage and carb setup I wanted it went to paint. I got it back last year but now I am trying to find some new stainless for it and front and rear bumpers that are new. Next will be the interior. I am putting the headers on now and it will be ready for "Twice Pipes" by weeks end. If anyone has ideas or comments please fire away.
Thanks for lending an ear.

Notes: |
I have had this Ranchero since 1990 and it has been sitting. I took it on trade and started fixing it up when one day I heard the Ford "Death Knock" so I parked it and let it sit. I was working on some Camaro's I have and one day when I was out of parts on the Camaro project I started working on the Ranchero motor. I am still looking for a GT hood for that car. If you hear of onew let me know. |
