10/23/08 | Repair | 123900 | Dashboard Recover Ok this was a complete nightmare! At first I thought it would me fine to get a cover for the dash but then realized it was just a molded plastic piece that fit over the original dash and then you had to paint it…I was not too key on this idea so I then started looking into having it refurbished. I found the do all end all of dash repair at a company called “Just Dashes” they take your old dash strip it, re foam it and then cover it in new vinyl so it looks like a brand new dash from the factory…..great ! …..but the dash cap for my vic was @ $8-900.00 …OUCH!!! So then I was going to buy a new dash from Ford, HA HA HA! Same deal $945.00 and they only had one and it was grey! After all this I figured I could recover it myself…..ah..no…..(that was a $50.00 lesson) so now I have had my dash recovered at an upholstery shop for $225.00 (WAY better that 900.00)
They recovered it in a vinyl that was very close to original, added a new pad so it will be a bit softer that it started. The speaker holes were all broken so I had them cover them as open holes with black speaker felt on the underside and I am going to make nice flat speaker covers to go over the hole on the top side…(ill let ya know how that goes) Pictures as soon as I pick up the finished dash. | 250.00 |
