Notes: |
Took a job working on a ranch in Florida. The Bronco was in one of the barns. I really didn't think much about it because nice broncos were always out of my price league. So, why torture myself.........I just blocked it out. That is until the day that my employer offered to sell it to me on a plan that I could afford!! Now I'm in love.....lol!! I've always wanted a Bronco and now I've got one and a decent one too...................... Life is good.
What you see is what I bought. She's not perfect and is starting to show her age. Going to take some time to figure out exactly what I'm dealing with. Maybe make some improvements here and there, starting with the shocks!! |

Maintenance & Modification Logs
Date | Type | Mileage | Title / Description | $ Amount | 03/09/12 | Modification | | Installed new, rear gears, rear brakes and brake hardware. Pulled rear axle, took it to a shop and had new, Yukon 4.56 gears, axle seals, axle bearings and Detroit locker installed....yay! Had the shop weld the axle tubes to the pumpkin too. My main reason for doing so is because slight amount of oil was starting to seep from the joint on one side.
While at it, I replaced, with all new parts, the Diff. cover, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, springs and self adjusters. Also installed extended brake lines.
Bought a used external tranny filter from a member on FSB forum. Will install when I get an external cooler.
Front gears will be next but in order to fund the project I'll first need to sell my '94 GMC Jimmy. | 1,457.73 | 01/17/12 | Repair | 99800 | New Windshield Finally had the scratched up windshield replaced! Was difficult to find someone that would use factory glass but K & K Glass, came thru for me. Looks great.

9) | 0.00 | 10/08/09 | Modification | 93602.6 | Replace leaf springs, eliminating cheezy blocks Taking care of substandard rear suspension by eliminating home made blocks.
Ordered Skyjacker, six inch lift springs today.
Had a pretty good day today. Found a local Pro-Truck shop and after having them check out my rear spring/block situation, we determined that my springs are four inch lift springs, probably from a kit. So,we determined that for me to be able to eliminate the blocks and still keep my existing ride height or at least close to it, I will need six inch lift springs. Ordered some Skyjacker springs today and hope to have them soon. This has been a good learning experiance for me........I love my Bronco.
Update:
Shop called me to tell me that only one side was delivered and that they had made a mistake when they quoted me the price. Needless to say, I cancelled the order and then found some at Jeffs Bronco Graveyard for $420.00 for the pair. U-Bolt kit was $28.00 and 110.00 to ship. Wish they would hurry up and get here....lol!
I installed the new springs!!
As soon as I got the springs installed, I noticed a small puddle of coolant under the truck.....lol! Had been losing coolant but could never find the source of the leak. Broke down and purchased a coolant system, pressure tester. Found out that both the water pump gasket and timing chain cover gasket were leaking. Here we go again.....I can't get a break.
| 558.00 | 09/19/09 | Modification | 92000 | Removed nerf bars Removed broken, rattling, pain in the butt step bars. Looks better w-out the bars and eliminated all of rattles and clunks that I thought were suspension related. (live and learn) | 0.00 | 09/18/09 | Repair | 92000 | Secured hanging wires in tailgate.
