Drivetrain: dump the air ride and is riding on coil springs
Notes: this car has a 4th owner car. we got her about 7 yrs ago. when I was looking for 5.0 with disc brake drivetrain for my 79 yellow roller. the 1987 lincoln mark VII, was in the paper for $200.00 need gone type of ad. so i had to check it out.
the story is the lady was selling because the brakes failed and had bad starter. it was her dad car, which he bought brand new . he only used it for traveling on road trips because the air ride gave him nice ride. when her dad past away, it just sat out side and not used until the grand daughter needed a car.
the grand daughter drove the car until the brakes failed and mom didn't want her daughter drive such a unsafe car, that would not start.
after I towed it home. I installed a new battery and she fired right up(which still has the same starter to this day)! I guess that fixed the bad starter, lol?after that fix, I had to have a look at these failed brakes . the grand daughter drove with bad brakes until the rotors worn into the cooling fins and a caliber piston fell out. so$200.00 in 1 battery ,4 rotors, 2 set of pads and one caliber later and installed some 1995 wheels and tires I had hanging around in the shop for rollers. the car been my son daily driver for 5 yrs now.

2 yrs ago the air ride was acting like a ex- wife and giving my son fits. some times ,when my son would go to use his car. he would find that the left rear bag leaked. then some times, it would be right rear bag would leaked or it would both left side would leaked, then both the right side. it was driving us nuts.
after both front bags would leak down on regular basis I was thinking it was time to junk it but no! my son would not have any thing to do with that idea. so I started to looks for replacement parts for his $400.00 car. after that shocker, it was plan B. convert to coil ride system. I had the parts, just finding them was the question. 1st we drove the Lincoln in to my therapy room and put his joy onto 6 jack stands. we took off the front bags and control arms. we remove the rear bags and control arms, that way I could get a good look at seeing what parts I needed.

I can cut the rear spring perch off my old 86 stang and weld those on to Lincoln. after trimming the tabs down on the Lincoln body and installing the spring perch for the stang . I weld them into place.
